OCEAN INSPIRED ALCOHOL INK
September 15th • 6:00pm -8:00pm
Explore alcohol ink and its application in painting to create a one-of-a-kind abstract painting inspired by the ocean and its reefs. Focusing on the color blue, students will drip, drop, and spread bold and vivid ink on the paper's surface in a fluid painting style to create an ocean backdrop. Students will experiment with ink application, blending, and mixing with alcohol and will leave with a basic understanding of how to pursue the medium further.
We will be using our ocean background to influence our composition's illustrative details, highlighting the organic patterns through line drawing and mark making with posca pens.
Students will be working on small practice exercises and then on a final finished piece. Students should be prepared to do some drawing in this class and will be walked through gestural mark-making and patterns!
Students are encouraged to bring an ocean-life photo that inspired them.
