Wild Flowers in Acrylic Gouache
March 19th • 6:00pm -8:00pm
Explore the beauty of opaque matte gouache in this spring floral workshop!
Our class will focus on painting loose shape-focused florals in a wildflower field-inspired color palette. Using acrylic Gouache, we will build permanent opaque and matte layers.
We will draw our floral focus from wildflowers and use our brushes to create the natural shapes of petals, leaves, and details.
During class, we will discuss the differences related explicitly to acrylic opaque Gouache versus traditional Watercolor and water-based gouache tube paint.
Students will work on a 6" x 6" study.
Students will work with warm-up exercises specific to our floral shapes and discuss proper techniques for mixing Gouache, using water, and building our composition.
Students will receive a reference to work from during the class!
This class is a great building block for those students who have taken beginning floral watercolor classes and are interested in exploring compositional planning and illustrative Watercolor painting.
Level:
Though this is a beginner-friendly class, it is excellent for those who consider themselves at the intermediate level, with a basic understanding of brush control, and would like to push toward a more detailed, planned, and advanced composition!
