Lessons in layering with watercolor
july 9th • 6:00pm - 8:00pm
In this class, students will learn the power of transparent layering through "negative space." We will create an organic shape composition with overlapping layers building up from light to dark within one color. With each layer, we will deepen our tone and highlight the interest of the previous layer.
We will focus on the design process, defining our color palette and the tools we can use to build up layers and depth in our work.
Our class will exclusively discuss layering, working wet on dry, and the importance of water and transparency!
Though this is suitable for beginners, it is excellent for intermediate students who have a basic understanding of water control and the power of wet-on-dry painting and have taken the Next Steps in Watercolor Series.
